Waiting Rooms

There are specially designated lounge areas for visitors on each patient floor and on the first floor in the main lobby. Specific waiting areas have been designated for families of patients in the Intensive Care Unit, the  emergency department and surgery.

Gifts For Patients

Visitors should check with the nurse before bringing gifts of food or drink to patients. Certain gifts, including food, fresh flowers and live plants, are prohibited in the Intensive Care Unit. Please check with the nurse to make sure your gift is appropriate. Gifts of balloons are prohibited for children under the age of 13.

Wireless Internet Access

Patients and their visitors can take advantage of guest internet access at Metroplex and Rollins Brook hospitals. Guests are able to log onto the Metroplex wireless network with a special password they can receive from the Information Desk, PBX, the charge nurse or any nurses’ station. With their laptop, wireless card and password, guests and patients can log onto the internet from anywhere inside the hospitals, including patient rooms, sitting areas, the cafeteria, etc. As long as the guest computer is equipped with a wireless capability, when turned on the computer should automatically detect the wireless network. Once the computer finds the network, it will prompt you for the temporary password.

Cafe Metro

Hospital food takes on a whole new flavor at Cafe Metro at Metroplex Hospital. The cafe offers a wide selection of entrees, international cuisine and vegetarian dishes. A salad bar, cold sandwich bar and hamburger stand are offered, as well as a wide selection of fruit, snacks, cereals, desserts, ice cream and microwavable sandwiches. The cafe serves food from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. The cafeteria is closed for cleaning and restocking from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. daily. Visitors are welcome to eat in the cafeteria.

Hot entrees are available:
Weekdays:

• Breakfast:  7 to 8:30 a.m.
• Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
• Supper: 4:45 to 6 p.m.

Weekends:

• Breakfast 8 to 9 a.m.
• Lunch: Noon to 1 p.m.
• Supper: 5 to 6 p.m.

You may dine in your loved one's room or in the cafeteria.

Vending Machines

Vending machines, offering a variety of snacks and beverages, are located in the emergency waiting room and the Metro Garden. Snacks are also available in the Eclectic Gift Shop.

Flowers

Flowers are delivered by local florists every day of the week. If flowers are purchased at the hospital gift shop, a hospital volunteer will deliver the flowers to the patient's room.

Parking

Parking for patients and visitors is available in front of the hospital’s main entrance, and may be accessed from Clear Creek Road. Parking is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All parking at Metroplex is free. Patients and visitors are cautioned not to park in reserved areas, or areas designated for physicians, employees, clergy or Metroplex Medical Plaza patients.

Please be sure to lock your car. If you need assistance to your car, call the operator by dialing 0. There is also parking available across from the ER and Outpatient Registration entrance.

Out-of-Town Visitors

Accommodations for relatives and visitors from out-of-town are available at nearby motels, which offer various facilities and rates.
