Silver Classic 5K Run/Walk - March 7, 2010

Lace up your best walking/running shoes – the Silver Classic 5K Run/Walk is just around the corner! Each year, the Metroplex Wellness Department hosts the Classic for runners and walkers of all ages. Entry fee for employees/active-duty military is $15 before February 19th and $18 after. Employees and military participants must show ID day of race. Entry fee for the general public is $18 before February 19th and $20 after.

Women's Health Day - May 10, 2010

Metroplex Health System and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health is celebrating National Women’s Check-up Day on May 10, 2010.

From 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Sue Mayborn Women’s Center lobby, women of all ages can come and enjoy a FREE! health check. The event is designed completely for women and will include bone density testing, glucose testing, total cholesterol readings, blood pressure, height/weight and BMI/body fat analysis screenings. Diabetes education and educational information will also be available.



Lampasas Health Fest - June 10, 2010

Rollins Brook Community Hospital in Lampasas invites you to bring your entire family to the 17th Annual Lampasas Health Fest for FREE!

More than 30 health organizations will showcase their goods and services. Activities include free school immunizations for all students, a complete health screening which consists of glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure tests with a body fat analysis; face painting, a bouncy house, sno-cones and a chance to meet Health E. Bear, the hospital mascot.



KidFest Health & Safety Fair - August 15, 2010

Four hours (1:00 to 5:00 p.m.) of free school immunizations, entertainment and healthy snacks are available to all Central Texans at the 22nd Annual KidFest Health & Safety Fair.

The event offers free screenings, health and safety information and fun for all ages. Free school immunizations will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and by financial need. Those with Medicaid, who have no insurance or are underinsured, qualify for free immunizations. Metroplex Dietitians will also offer healthy snacks to children and their parents.

Activities include visits and entertainment from Health E. Bear – the Metroplex Hospital mascot; the Killeen Fire Department will give tours of a fire truck and ambulance, and LifeStar will display one of their helicopters. Other activities include giant moonwalks, along with free popcorn, lemonade and sno-cones for everyone.

Numerous community and social service agencies will set up displays to offer information about services that are available to Central Texans.
