Metroplex Wellness Department

The mission of the Wellness Department is to promote healthy lifestyles for people in our community. We promote healthy living principles as an extension of Christ’s healing by developing resources that provide members of the community and hospital staff information, skills and programs designed to assist in living a balanced life.

2009 Quarterly Health Screenings

Metroplex Wellness has revamped our public health screenings to meet the needs of the communities we serve.

The screening includes the following tests, along with providing free nutrition and health information:

  • Cholesterol
  • Glucose
  • Blood Pressure
  • Body Fat Analysis

We have recently added a $20 fee to have these tests performed. At the screening, we ask all participants to complete an eligibility form* to see if they qualify to receive a free screening or if they need to pay the $20. If a participant does not qualify for the free cholesterol and glucose tests, he or she may choose to get the blood pressure and body fat screening at no charge. The complete health screening remains free for any Metroplex Health System employee or volunteer and all Prime of Life members.

Our screenings are designed to inform the patient as well as their primary care provider with accurate results. Participants receive a copy of their results, and a carbon copy is sent to their physician (with permission). This is one of the extra services Metroplex Wellness is providing to our participants.

Metroplex Wellness conducted a Community Health Needs Assessment last year and used it to help determine the focus of this year's programs. As a result, the Wellness Department will offer more women's health classes, children's immunization clinics and a wider variety of wellness classes throughout 2009.
