Metroplex Welcomes First Baby of 2009
KILLEEN – While most people were focused on their New Year’s resolutions, Nicole Rogalla and Jarmell Staples welcomed their son Jarmell Tarunn Staples into the world.
Jarmell was the first child of 2009 at Metroplex Adventist Hospital. He was born Friday, January 2nd at 2:58 a.m., weighing in at 8 lbs 12.9 oz and stretching 21 ½ inches in length.
“He came really fast,” explained Nicole. “We had come in on New Year’s Day, but I was sent home because the doctor said I was not ready. We came back later that evening, and before we knew it, Jarmell was born.”
Jarmell is also welcomed by a 3-year-old sister, Seniyah.
Each year, Metroplex presents a baby basket for the first child born. The basket contains diapers, wipes, blankets, a play gym, baby monitors, formula, baby lotion, bath and shampoo, nail clippers, medicine dropper and a thermometer.
