Center for Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Now Open

KILLEEN — Is a non-healing wound keeping you from having fun? The new Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine is now accepting patients. The facility, located at 2300 S. Clear Creek Road, Suite 101 in Killeen, is the only wound care center with hyperbaric medicine located between Waco and Austin.

“Aside from not having to drive outside the community for these services, patients will be able to experience one of the most effective wound care treatments, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT),” said Suemei Addington, Program Director. “In addition, our unique multidisciplinary team of dedicated doctors and nurses will treat more wounds than anyone else. The center will have two oxygen chambers.”

HBOT is a treatment in which the patient breathes 100 percent oxygen while being enclosed in a pressurized chamber at greater than normal atmospheric pressure. While breathing pure oxygen, the patient’s blood plasma becomes saturated, carrying 20 to 30 times the normal amount of oxygen to the body’s tissue. The ultimate result is the body’s natural wound-healing mechanisms, which are oxygen dependent, are able to function more efficiently.

The center operates on an outpatient basis and Addington said, “Our specialized approach offers treatments that radically speed the healing process. It’s time to get your life back. Call us, we will treat you well.”

The types of wounds seen in the center are:
      Diabetic/Neurotrophic Ulcers
      Pressure Ulcers
      Arterial & Venous Vascular Ulcers
      Traumatic or Surgical Wounds
      Infected or Non-healing Wounds
Small Burns (not more than 10% total body surface area)

The center is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information, visit mplex.org or call 254.526.2985.
