Metroplex Hospital Surpasses Top Hospital Ratings
KILLEEN, TX (February 2, 2010) – Joint Commission, the standards-setting and accrediting body for healthcare, recently issued data from their Strategic Surveillance System study for the fourth quarter of 2009, holding Metroplex Adventist Hospital at a performance rate higher than the top ten percent of hospitals across the nation.
The score, which rates Metroplex Adventist Hospital superior to Texas and National levels, is comprised of a series of risk assessment and comparative reports that help hospitals improve their patient care processes. “Metroplex Health System is committed to providing the community with exceptional patient care,” states Evelyn Malabonga RN MSN, Executive Director of Quality and Risk Management. “This report confirms that the efforts put forth by our clinical and medical staff are consistently improving the safety and quality of care our patients receive.”
The Joint Commission concentrates on 14 individual Priority Focus Areas (PFA’s) that include processes, systems and structures within a health care organization that significantly impacts the quality and safety of patient care. The overall Priority Focus Process (PFP) point total is calculated by summing up the 14 PFA’s. The lower a score, the better a hospital performed.
Metroplex Adventist Hospital scored a 45 in the PFP point totals, better than America’s Top 10% Hospitals (48) and national averages (141). “The data used is accrued from hospital quality measures, past surveys, and Medicare provider analysis and reviews, among other sources,” continues Malabonga. “The fact that we have a remarkable score gives credence to our outstanding staff going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure quality patient care is the standard at Metroplex Health System.”
