Metroplex Health System Volunteers annually administer scholarships.
The deadline for all applications is March 30, 2012. You may apply for each scholarship, as long as you qualify.

Dot Hausmann - $1,500.00
Given in honor of past Volunteer Coordinator, Dot Hausmann. Funding is from the Volunteer Funds. Funds are allocated by the Board of Directors. Check is issued by Volunteer Treasurer from volunteer funds.
Jimmie Smith – $1,000.00 each (2 scholarships)
Given in memory of Jimmie Smith, who was instrumental in starting the Metroplex volunteers. Funding is from the Volunteer Funds. Funds are allocated by the Board of Directors. Check is issued by Volunteer Treasurer from volunteer funds.
Dr. Joseph Thoppil – $1,000.00
Given in memory of Dr. Joseph Thoppil, a pediatrician. Applicants must be pursuing a career in pediatrics as a physician, a registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse. Funds are issued by the Metroplex Foundation.
Begelman-Jacknovich – $1,000.00 each (3 scholarships)
Given by Dr. Terry Beal. Checks issued directly to scholarship winner and will be issued by Dr. Beal.
Asha and Balkrishna Bodas – $1,000.00
This is an ongoing scholarship. The winner will continue to receive funds if a 3.0 GPA is maintained during the previous school year. Recipients can receive the scholarship annually until graduation with a cumulative maximum of four scholarship awards. Applicants must pursue a degree in nursing or education. Funds are issued by Dr. Alka Rishi and are issued directly to the student.
Suzette and Ken Chapman Scholarship – $1,000
Given by Suzi and Ken Chapman. Applicant must have FASA paperwork and exhibit financial need. Applicant must be a Metroplex Health System employee or child of an employee. Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA to be considered.
Sid Wieser Memorial Scholarship - $1,000
This is an ongoing scholarship for human health care students. Applicant must have FASA paperwork and exhibit financial need. Students meeting basic scholarship academic requirements on an annual basis will continue to receive $1000 per school year, with a maximum award of $4,000.
Posse Scholarship - $1,000
Only awarded to a vocational student in human health care. Students must meet basic scholarship academic requirements and must be planing a career in vocational human health care. Students studying nursing or planning to enter medical school will not be considered.
Fields of study include, but are not limited to:
Biomedical equipment maintenance
Laboratory technician certification
Respiratory therapist certification
Phlebotomist training
Radiology assistant training
Sonography
Scholarship applications are also available at all area high schools (please ask counselors). Application packets will also be available at the information desk in the front lobbies of Metroplex and Rollins Brook Community hospitals. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 30, 212. You may apply for all scholarships you qualify for.
